About Pilates

Invented over seventy years ago by Joseph Pilates, who was a boxer and fitness enthusiast, Pilates has become more than just a passing fad. More and more people, men and women of varying ages, from athletes to corporate job holders, from dancers to people recovering from various injuries, have found that the system of body conditioning actually does work. It is based on the idea that true core support - a combination of strengthening and lengthening the muscles surrounding the spine – acts as the keystone to a healthy mind and body, facilitating a more efficient and pain-free way of moving.
